MY TRUE SELF revisited is a choreography for the 11 performers of the Italian dance company Fattoria Vittadini. The work strives to expose the mechanism of the ancient desire of becoming someone else as a means of liberating one's 'true' self, if such even exists, and explores the evolution of that desire into the creation of a new and effective image-of-self.

Through the employment of images constructed from their respective inner worlds, the dancers mark territories in the public arena and set off to tackle the challenge of their separate existence within the safety of a group. While obsessively clinging to their new physicality, the performers attempt to create in their bodies a new effective quality that would enable them to alter space and reality and thus, eventually, themselves. They do not always succeed. On their journey they encounter others on duos or trios, and the space acquires new densities as small magical moments of private and intimate rituals form and dissolve. Sound and still objects mark, evade, and influence each individual performer's own quest towards a 'true' self — away and within the group and the world.
